I have downloaded a program called Icon Builder Pro 5.0 from Iconfactory. It is a Photoshop plug-in to make Aqua OS X or Windows XP icons. This is so easy that I have the tendency to make an icon for all my needs..

I have this Freecom mobile HD. When I plug it in now, A nice 20D photo is the basis for an 128x128 > 16x16 (all sizes) icon..

See for yourself.. I also made one for my Lexar 40 Speed CF card.. great and easy fun :-)

Some Apple culture..

I have some more "need to know" Apple experience. With regard to the machine and software; After working for about 3 weeks on it I must say that it is still satisfying as you have these small "A-ha" experiences. What does annoy me after using it quite extensively:

- This G5 takes a split second more time now and then to open menu's, scroll through options etc.. Windows has tuned their user interaction with menu's etc faster than Apple. When you are an advanced user like me who wants to work quickly this is sometimes annoying. If there is any tweaking to do, please let me know.
- As I said earlier, the Mac OS X is fatter than windows, leaving less space for working on a similar monitor. I work with a lot of programs that have panels and windows open beside the workspace and that is simply not enough on a 1280x1024.. So the 1920x1200 monitor might come earlier than expected. This hurts productivity and ease of use now..

A totally other thing..

I wanted to buy a ADC to VGA connector at an Apple store in Amsterdam yesterday, boy what was that crowded..And the lenghty useless questions these apple fans have.. I almost ate my shoes from irritation. And the salesguys are from the same calibre.. I got out and as we were back in Rotterdam I went to Machouse Rotterdam. Same story, same annoying Apple fans looking for attention (open a weblog!) and salesguy that have the type of advice Network administrators give you: Kocky and useless.
Apple is like France, Great country, too bad the French live in it.. :-)

Well, it is just a momentum so not all salesguys are bad, nor the Apple fans or the French of course, I am just stereotyping..

So lets go to the Apple store and order myself a Cinema 23" (or shall I take the 30"..)

Happy sunday!!! (I am so happy, my wife forbid me to use the PC's for 24 hours on saturday as I sit behind it too much.. She is totally right, I do belong to that group of addicted internet users, but we live from it quite generously so it is a matter of balancing.. )

Maybe we should have like an internetless sunday as oppossed to the environmental carless sundays we had in the past :-)
