The continued story of Kamera Express..

I said that I would complete my story on the Kamera Express shopping experience:

As told, I wanted the 50mm 1.4 ASAP and they had it on stock so because Kamera Express is on my way to work I stopped by. As always I am quite straightforward about what I think. I told the guy who helped me that I was my first visit since a while because I think they are arrogant bastards sometimes. He admitted that they are a bit arrogant sometimes. But he also said that delivering camera products at such prices needs some rules and restrictions, which are clearly stated on their site. One is that they do not unwrap stuff because it will become a kind of used / extra time. Secondly they don't do discounts so don't get mad if you do not get extra discount and walk out the store dissapointed. Third: they deliver only stuff from Europe, so european warranty applies. But I read on the www.canon-europe.com site that on bodies there is a international warranty of 1 year. Does anyone has any experience with getting warranty in Europe on outside Europe Canon products?

So all together it was an OK experience. The guy I talked to claimed to be the DSLR guy. He also said that he could no way match the price we might be getting on the 20D. So that was quite OK to hear. Ofcourse he had his list of issues buying at people that deliver for that price... That is a personal guess you take or not.

Just extra info: They do have 1D MkII on stock. They give around 800 euro's for a Dutch complete 10D with batterygrip (if you have the invoice) and they had an Canon 50 1.8 I for 175,00 in mint condition..

So, I still have my preferences and so now and then I go for quick delivery. Not having a store is sometimes a bit of a hassle and two weeks delivery time can be on the critical path to purchase but normally with such a fine contact it is A OK..

So this is my 2c.. Now I get back to my 50 mil...

I am a real researcher when it comes to buying stuff online for minimum price vs maximum quality. I have my resources ligned up and get a better idea every purchase..

I bought the 17-40 L at www.cornevaniperen.nl . It is undoubtly the cheapest camera store in the Netherlands. It would not surprise me if it would be European's too (Taxhavens excluded). A 1Ds goes for 6800,00 Euro's VAT included.

How was my customer experience?
Website: clumsy but OK (7)
Response: Swift and Slow (7)
Contact: I personally like more accurate info about my delivery but very friendly (7)
Delivery: He delivers at your doorstep, you pay cash - takes two weeks on average (7.5)
Reliability: I know what he does for a living and looked him in the eye.. felt OK(8)
Price: Unbeatable(10)

That would make it a "8 minus". I would make it a firm 8 (out of 10) as he is nice, delivers according to order and has the best price.

The funny thing is that this business is his sidekick.

So, I think that Corne is competing with Mr Japancamera.nl as they both are nice people so I heard, have knowledge and good prices. The price edge goes to Mr Corne, the technical edge and trade / repair possibilites go to mr www.japancamera.nl

www.kamera-express.nl (Real shop, lots of stuff but arrogant people, which I hate as an amateur)
www.cameranu.nl (bit cheaper as kamera-express, heard is OK but shop is far away)
